It started life as a 12 x 4 tracking console, containing Altec 9470A amps for input and buss driver amps, 8 channels with 9061A EQ's, all 12 channels having 600/600 ladder echo sends and 600/600 ladder faders. Some features have been bypassed (talkback, rem, emer) to simplify the path. Subject at hand is a freshly acquired Altec 9200A console, circa 1968, highly modified and expanded by one John Frey in DC about 1975. The outputs are selectable on each channel. This was originally mono line & power amp outputs but it has been modded for two line outputs. Even better, each channel has two selectable inputs totaling 8 mic preamps and 4 line inputs. Truly a hand-wired piece of history, the same model was used by Rudy Van Gelder to record early jazz classics at his first studio.ĭaven rotary faders control the microphone preamps on channels 1 through 4 and line inputs of channel 5 and 6. ![]() This mixer was fully serviced in August of 2019 and has been used a few times a week since then. ![]() This console is plug and play ready to record.
